The first Edition of The Twisted Badge, written in 1988,
chronicles the experiences of a former Treasury Agent, a
school official, a judge, a newspaper reporter, and a college
professor who became the target of a secret investigation
unit. The Second Edition follows these cases through the
courts and reports on the jury awards, appeals, settlements,
and costs to taxpayers.
The Twisted Badge has been required reading in the Criminal
Justice Departments of several colleges and universities.
Public awareness of problems in law enforcement has been
heightened during the past decade by a "Trial of the Century,"
a Presidential impeachment, and several scandals.
The Twisted Badge examines a system which allows bad cops
to twist the badge and punishes good cops for reporting
We believe good cops should be encouraged, not punished
